Geothermal energy is energy that can be extracted from the heat of the earth. Steam produced by geothermal energy can be captured and used to drive a turbine and generate electricity. Unfortunately, this resource is rare. In North America, most potential sites exist in the western locations in relative remote wilderness locations where environmental and economic issues are obstacles.
